Nutrition facts computed from your recipe, not a spreadsheet.
Link raw materials to USDA FoodData Central, and NovexERP auto-computes FDA-compliant Nutrition Facts labels from your Bills of Materials. Every recipe change updates the label automatically.
USDA-Backed Nutrition Data
Search the USDA FoodData Central database directly from NovexERP, link raw materials to authoritative nutrient data, and let the system handle the math.
Every food-grade raw material can be linked to a USDA FoodData Central food item. Search by name, filter by data type (Foundation, SR Legacy, or Branded), and link with one click. The system fetches all nutrient values per 100g and stores them locally so your data is always available, even offline.
When a product has a Bill of Materials, NovexERP computes nutrition per serving automatically. Each ingredient's quantity is converted from pounds to grams, scaled against its nutrient profile, and summed across the full recipe. The result is divided by the manufacturing quantity to produce per-unit nutrition, then adjusted for serving size. All FDA-mandated rounding rules from 21 CFR 101.9 are applied — calories rounded to the nearest 10, fat to the nearest gram, sodium to the nearest 5mg, and so on.
The generated Nutrition Facts label follows the standard FDA format: bold calorie count, indented sub-nutrients, percent Daily Values based on a 2,000 calorie diet, and the required footnote. Labels render as self-contained HTML ready for print or packaging integration. For recipe management, see Production. For raw material management, see Inventory. For lot-level traceability, see Traceability.

How It Works
Start by flagging a raw material as a food product. Search USDA FoodData Central by name — results show the food description, brand (for branded items), data type, and FDC ID. Select the correct match and NovexERP fetches the full nutrient profile: calories, fats, cholesterol, sodium, carbohydrates, fiber, sugars, protein, vitamins, and minerals. All values are stored per 100g, matching the USDA standard.
Set a serving size on your product — grams per serving, a display label like “1 bar (40g)”, and optionally servings per container. When you compute nutrition, the system walks the active BOM: for each ingredient, it converts the quantity from pounds to grams, scales every stored nutrient proportionally, and sums across all ingredients. The batch total is divided by manufacturing quantity to get per-unit values, then adjusted for serving size.
Computed nutrition is cached per product and BOM combination. When a BOM is updated, a raw material's USDA data is refreshed, or a serving size changes, the cache is automatically invalidated and recomputed. Finished product lots retain the nutrition facts from the BOM version they were manufactured with — so a lot produced last month shows the nutrition from last month's recipe, even if the recipe has since changed.
