Every lot tracked. Every movement recorded.
Complete inventory management designed for food manufacturing â lot tracking, configurable FIFO or FEFO consumption, expiry management, quarantine support, and full audit trails from receiving dock to shipping door.
Stock, Lots & Traceability
Manage warehouses, storage locations, raw materials, and finished products in a single system with every inventory change logged for complete traceability.
Every inventory change in NovexERP is logged with who made it, when, and why. This creates an unbroken audit trail from the moment raw materials arrive at your receiving dock through every consumption, transfer, and shipment until finished goods leave your facility.
Consumption strategy is configurable system-wide and defaults to FIFO. FIFO consumption orders lots by received_at date, always selecting the oldest material first. FEFO (First-Expire-First-Out) orders lots by expires_at date, consuming the soonest-to-expire material first. Quarantined lots are automatically excluded from both consumption strategies, ensuring that held inventory is never accidentally consumed during production. Users can override lot selection during manufacturing when specific lots are required.
Storage locations support five types â freezer, pallet, rack, room, and other â each with optional cubic volume tracking for capacity planning. Freezer locations have configurable temperature alert thresholds, defaulting to 32°F. The DNI (Do Not Inventory) flag excludes specific locations from physical inventory counts, which is useful for staging areas or temporary holding zones.
Virtual inventory calculations show physical stock minus needed quantities, with raw material needs projected via BOM forward projection from open orders. Results are cached for 10 minutes to maintain dashboard performance without sacrificing accuracy. Low stock alerts trigger when total inventory for a raw material drops to or below its configured threshold, surfacing immediately on the dashboard. For details on how FIFO consumption works during manufacturing, see Production. For lot genealogy and forward/backward tracing, see Traceability.

- Multi-warehouse and storage location management
- Lot tracking with full genealogy
- Expiry date management and configurable alerts
- Low stock alerts with configurable thresholds
- Quarantine and recall management
- Complete inventory audit trail
How It Works
Raw materials arrive via purchase order receipt â lots are auto-created with the received date, expiry, and assigned storage location. Each lot is linked back to the vendor and purchase order for complete inbound traceability.
During manufacturing, the system selects lots using FIFO (oldest received first) or FEFO (soonest expiry first), automatically skipping any quarantined stock. Quantities are deducted atomically from each lot until the required amount is fulfilled. Lots that reach zero quantity are automatically removed from active inventory.
Low stock alerts trigger when total inventory for a raw material drops to or below its configured threshold, surfacing on the dashboard for immediate visibility. The inventory summary provides real-time physical, assigned, needed, and virtual quantities across all locations, giving you a complete picture of material availability at any moment.
